Business Skills in Demand

NBBG was co-organizer, together with the Embassy of Finland within Finland’s Presidency of the Council of the EU, of a very meaningful event initiated by Sofia University, Scandinavian Study Programme with focus on cooperation between the Nordic businesses and the Scandinavian Study Programme. Partners of the event were the Embassy of Denmark, the Embassy of Sweden, Stockholm-based, the Norwegian General Honorary Consulate and the Swedish Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce.
After the official opening of Prof. Madeleine Danova, Dean of the Faculty of Classical and Modern Philology at Sofia University the Nordic Ambassadors and General Honorary Consuls gave an overview of the business presence of their countries in Bulgaria, and shared good practices in the cooperation between the businesses and the universities from each Nordic country.
Mrs. Bistra Papazova, Deputy Chair of the Norwegian-Bulgarian Business Group and CEO of the Norwegian company Cobuilder International made a very interesting presentation about the employer’s perspective regarding the needs of professional and personal skills of the employees.
A round table discussion followed, moderated by Miriana Alexandrova, Executive Director of NBBG. A lot of great ideas were born during an informal positive conversation and the frame for the next meeting was set.
This was a great start of a long term cooperation between the Nordics and the Sofia University, which we hope will lead to a series of events aiming to increase the knowledge of the students both when it comes to practical, communicational and soft skills.
