Study Visit in Norway: Empowering Vulnerable Groups – Deichman Library
As part of our enriching study tour in Norway, we had the opportunity to visit the Deichman Library, a remarkable institution that serves as a cultural and knowledge hub for the community. During our visit, we learned about the library’s innovative educational initiatives aimed at integrating minorities, particularly refugees and immigrants.
A Cultural Hub for All
More than just a traditional library, Deichman Library fosters a vibrant environment that encourages public initiatives such as shared reading sessions, language courses, and even cooking and sewing workshops. These activities are designed to bring diverse communities together, promoting interaction and communication among participants. The library’s lively atmosphere provides both privacy and serenity, making it a welcoming space for everyone.
The Bulgarian participants were given an in-depth look at the library’s organizational structure and various departments dedicated to minority integration and inclusion activities. We learned about the dedicated professionals who work tirelessly to implement these initiatives, ensuring that minorities have the resources and support they need to thrive in their new environment.
Our tour concluded with a visit to the Bulgarian Embassy, where we had a productive meeting with the Ambassador. This gathering served as a platform for discussing our shared goals and future collaborations between Norwegian and Bulgarian entities.
During our meeting, we explored various topics, including ongoing projects and upcoming initiatives that aim to enhance cooperation at both community and political levels. The discussion highlighted the importance of fostering closer relationships between our countries, paving the way for collaborative efforts that benefit both Bulgarian and Norwegian communities.
Our study tour has been a significant step towards understanding and implementing effective practices for the integration of minorities.
