Telenor and the Royal Norwegian Embassy support the establishment of a Norwegian-Bulgarian Business Group

Telenor and the Royal Norwegian Embassy support the establishment of a Norwegian-Bulgarian Business Group with the purpose of encouraging the good business practices and the development of the economic relations between the two countries. This was announced at an official event, which took place in the residence of the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Sofia today.

The launch event of the Norwegian-Bulgarian Business Group was hosted by the Norwegian Ambassador H.E. Guro Katharina H. Vikør, and attended by representatives of Telenor, Bulgarian and Nordic business, as well as official guests.

‘As part of an international group which operates in 13 countries in Europe and Asia, Telenor has vast experience in the field of business relations on a global scale. I believe that our knowledge and the successfully realized strategies on various markets can be of use for all companies which will join the Norwegian-Bulgarian Business Group. We are ready to share the good practices of our activity and help for the development of the business environment in Bulgaria. Among our primary aims is also the popularization of the Norwegian business values – transparency, know-how sharing, open dialogue and zero tolerance towards corruption’ – Telenor Bulgaria CEO Stein-Erik Vellan commented at the official ceremony.

‘We are happy to have laid the grounds of a long-term co-operation, which is going to benefit all the interested parties. We hope that this will help the future development of the Bulgarian-Norwegian business relations, and encourage the foreign investments in the country. I would like to thank Telenor for their commitment to this project. I know Telenor can be an inspiring example for the companies that work and invest in Bulgaria, including the future members of the Business Group’ – commented H.E. Guro Katharina H. Vikør.

Association members can be both Bulgarian and Norwegian firms, as well as state institutions, organizations and NGOs. The membership in the Group will allow them share experience, ideas, useful contacts and get support for their businesses. The Chairman of the Norwegian-Bulgarian Business Group will be the Telenor Chief Executive Officer Stein-Erik Vellan.

The companies which are willing to join the newly formed Business Group will have to fill in a specific application form and pay the respective membership fee for a period of one calendar year. The membership fee is defined by the number of company’s employees and varies from BGN 250 to BGN 1500.

The launch of the Norwegian-Bulgarian Business Group is part of the Telenor’s long-term strategy for improvement of the business environment and the quality of life in Bulgaria. As a socially responsible company, Telenor invests time and resources in the country’s economic and cultural development, and contributes to the increase of the wellbeing of the Bulgarian society.
